Places to see and things to do include; Golf, 18 holes at Kirkbymoorside, Malton and Ganton. Pickering has a public swimming pool, tennis courts, "Flamingo Land" zoo and theme park, interior bowls, North Yorkshire Moors Railway with spectacular steam train journeys through moor and forest, and all the amenities of a country market town. There are Markets at Pickering (Mondays), Kirkbymoorside (Wednesdays), Guisborough (Thursdays & Saturdays), Helmsley (Fridays), and Malton (Saturdays).
Seaside resorts of Scarborough and Whitby, old fishing villages at Robin Hood's Bay, Staithes & Runswick bay, with Saltburn-by-the-sea and it's restored pier.
Historic houses -
Castle Howard and Nunnington, Helmsley Castle and a host of good country pubs and restaurants in the nearby market towns and pretty villages.
Television and Film.
The area has been the focus of a number of film and television series of late. In the “Harry Potter” series, “Hogwarts” railway station was filmed at Goathland. The station also features in the Television series “Heartbeat”, as do other stations on the NYMR. “Aidensfield” in “Heartbeat” is the village of “Goathland”. The offspring of “Heartbeat”, “The Royal” is filmed at Scarborough. Many of the area's villages and farms play a part a number of other films and television series, showing that the area has a great wealth of beauty that appeals the film and television industry alike.
Roman Camp Just to the East of Cropton village, is "Cawthorne Camp", where the Romans enjoyed a spectacular view over the valley. Further North is Wheeldale moor, where the remains of the Roman road that connected to Cawthorne camp can still be seen.
Rosedale Abbey,
(1¾ Miles), has well stocked village shops, bakery, tearooms, pubs and a friendly welcome for all.

Craven
Garth Farm. This family farm is situated in Rosedale, one of the most attractive valleys in The North York Moors National Park - Heartbeat Country, surrounded by heather clad hills in a sheltered valley amongst some of the most spectacular scenery in Yorkshire. See "Hogwarts" railway station in the "Harry Potter" film, otherwise known as Goathland on the NYMR. Craven Garth Farm is the ideal place for an all season holiday and a warm, cosy base for Christmas and New Year. Rosedale offers an abundance of walks nature trails, old Roman roads, moorlands and fine forests.



Cottages Sleeping 2 - 8. We have a range of superb self catering cottages available, sleeping from 2 to 5 people. Each one has a fully fitted kitchen, with electric oven & hob, refrigerator, microwave oven, washing machine, kettle, toaster, comprehensive range of cutlery, & crockery etc. Master Mustard has a bathroom; all the others have a bathroom and shower room. A colour television and furnishings to suit most families, bedding is provided and some towelling. Heating is by electric night storage and wood burning stove. In all, everything to make your holiday a most enjoyable one. Adequate parking is available and pets are welcome. No matter what time of year, you will find a warm welcome in one of our cosy cottages.
